On Tuesday 12 May 2026, the ScaleAgData team delivered a five-minute lightning presentation at the ESA Agriculture Science Cluster workshop held at ESA's European Space Research Institute (ESRIN) in Frascati, Italy. The two-day event brought together leading research teams from across Europe with a clear scientific focus: advancing crop yield prediction at field scale using satellite Earth Observation.
Our presentation addressed project objectives and geographical scope, current results and data assets, as well as the most pressing challenges still standing between the scientific community and operationally useful field-level yield forecasts.
Beyond the presentation itself, the ScaleAgData team engaged actively in workshop discussions on the key challenges of field-level yield prediction including data requirements, model validation, and the role of satellite observations in capturing crop stress and phenology.
The Frascati workshop underlined the growing momentum behind field-scale yield prediction as a scientific and operational priority, with satellite data increasingly central to tackling this challenge at European and global scale.
